10 Reasons Why Colleagues are Coming to Fall Meeting
I am coming to Fall Meeting to:
- Be part of a community committed to work that matters and build a network of support to help me drive equity initiatives forward
- Bring work that I know will be carefully considered and unpacked by similarly committed educators with diverse perspectives
- Learn practical skills and approaches to leading and teaching for equity
- Gain new perspectives and thinking that can guide my work into the future!
- Learn to incorporate protocol use in team meetings and other settings where decisions are made and spaces where equity of voice is sometimes uneven
- Foster and nurture school environments that inspire each and every student to imagine and discover their genius
- Learn how to establish systems that are transformational and sustainable.
- Share collegial collaboration in a community of practice centered in equity – I don’t feel like I have this in my district.
- Bring back great energy and inspiration for learning and leading to my colleagues!
- Have a lot of fun!
Join Me at Fall Meeting – Joe Battaglia
The Fall Meeting originated with our colleagues at SRI as an annual gathering of learning with the entire community. We are pleased to bring this event back to give educators the opportunity to share and learn from colleagues all over the world.
The Fall Meeting is a transformative experience that goes far beyond a typical educational conference. It’s a vibrant gathering where the power of collective intelligence and collaborative problem-solving comes to life. As an educator committed to continuous growth, I’ve found this annual event to be an invaluable source of inspiration and professional development.
What makes the Fall Meeting unique is the focus to combine theory of adult learning and the practice to put in place structures to honor this theory. Our work at the Fall Meeting actively requires participation and deep, reflective practice. Practice here is a noun and a verb; we don’t just sit and listen; we engage, challenge, and grow together. We engage in meaningful discussions, challenge our assumptions, and develop innovative strategies to implement in our own settings. With the diversity of voices and perspectives, we become better in our practice and more open to multiple outcomes.
Fall Meeting allows us to connect with like-minded professionals who share our passion for improving education for all students. At its core, this gathering is driven by a commitment to equity and opportunity for all students. It can be lonely out there navigating the ever-changing landscape of educational theory, practice and politics. Working with new partners and hearing fresh ideas opens our minds to alternative viewpoints. It has been a source of reinvigoration for me when I’ve fallen into my own box and routine.
I know I will come out of the Fall Meeting feeling better about myself, about thoughtful colleagues from around the country, and about the future of education.
